Alexander Spendiaryan

Aleksandr Spendiarjan (Armenian Ալեքսանդր Սպենդիարյան, also Russian Александр Афанасьевич Спендиаров / Alexander Afanasievich Spendijarow; * 20 Oktoberjul / November 1, 1871 in 1871greg Kachowka, government Tauris; .. † May 7, 1928 in Yerevan ) was an Armenian composer.

Spendiarjan studied after attending the gymnasium of Simferopol in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. He then lived in Simferopol, Yalta ( 1901 ) and Sudak, before he settled down as a music teacher in Yerevan. He composed an opera, an orchestral suite, several symphonic pictures, cello, piano and violin pieces and songs in Russian and Armenian texts. He is considered the founder of the independent Armenian National School in classical music. Three times he was endowed by the music publisher Belyayev Glinka Prize.
