Alexander Stewart, 4th High Steward of Scotland

Alexander Stewart ( * ca 1214; † ca 1283) was a Scottish nobleman from the House of Stuart and 4th High Stewart of Scotland.

Alexander Stewart was the son of Walter Stewart, 3rd High Steward of Scotland, and his wife Beatrice of Angus. He succeeded his father in 1246 as 4th High Steward of Scotland.

Alexander was regent of Scotland during the minority of King Alexander III. and commanded at the Battle of Largs 1263rd

He married Jean, daughter of James Macrorie, Lord of Bute with whom he had the following children:

  • John ( ca.1269 -1298 ), Lord of Bonkyl
