Course

The Alf rises about 1 km north-east of Hörscheid in the volcanic Eifel. From its source at 549 meters above sea level. NN first flows from the Alf south. The first town on their way is Darscheid, at the eastern outskirts of the village it flows past. The next places on its course are Gille field and Strohn. In the following section to Bausendorf the course of Alf is quite tortuous. Now was up to here, the flow direction mainly south so turns her running east and flows through the south of the Kondelwalds nearby places Kinderbeuern and villains. About 3.5 km after Bengel, the flow direction changes abruptly to the north. A ridge blocks the other way east to the Moselle, 500 meters away. After breaking through the mountains Mosel flows into the Alf Alf (Landkreis Cochem-Zell ) to 95 m above sea level. NN in the Mosel. On its 53 km long path from the source to the mouth of the Alf overcomes a difference in altitude of 454 m, which corresponds to an average bed slope of 8.6 ‰.
