Alon Yavnai

Alon Yavnai (Hebrew אלון יבנאי; born 1969 ) is an Israeli jazz pianist and composer.

Life and work

Yavnai, who grew up in Tel Aviv, began playing the piano at the age of four years; 13 years old, he accompanied professional singers. After his graduation at the Thelma - Yalin - art high school and the Givatajim Conservatory, he continued his studies at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. There he worked with Paquito D' Rivera and Others in several formations, as well as with Regina Carter, the New York Voices, and his own trio. He also played with Freddie Hubbard, Joe Lovano, Nancy Wilson, Rosa Passos, Leni Andrade, Louis Hayes, Bob Moses, Ravi Coltrane, Romero Lubambo, Claudio Roditi, Rufus Reid, Jim Chapin and George Garzone. In 2001 he released his debut album D. S. Al Coda before; 2008 Yavnai received as a member of the Paquito D' Rivera Quintet for his involvement in the album Funk Tango to the Yavnai the title track had written a Grammy ( in the category " Best Latin Jazz Album "). In the same year he produced the album Travel Notes, included in solo and in trio with bassist Omer Avital and Jamey Haddad (percussion). 2012 appeared a joint album with the NDR Big Band.
