Alta Via 1

The Dolomites Alta Via 1, n called in Italian Alta Via delle Dolomiti 1, is a long distance hiking in the Alps. As a classical way he leads in 9 to 13 daily stages over a distance of 150 km from Braies to Belluno.

Course and requirements

The Dolomites Alta Via 1 runs along the main ridges of the eastern Dolomites groups along the south. The route leads through the mountain groups of the Lago di Dolomites, Fanes, Nuvolau, Croda da Lago, Rocchetta, Pelmo, Civetta, Moiazza, Pramper Dolomites and Schiara and moves at an altitude between 1500 m and 2800 m through alpine terrain.

When first applied Dolomites Crest Trail is the Alta Via n.1 also the lightest of them, especially in the northern and central portion of the path offer so many huts Accommodation and food that the distances between the cabins and inns are relatively short. Depending on your condition and leisure, these sections to put together short stages from an average of 3:30 to 5:00 hours walking or combine to longer day trips, but are generally also by hikers in normal condition to deal with. This is true not only for the length of the sections, but also for their difficulty and the orientation on the way. A blue triangle and the usual red and white signposts mark the well-designed and maintained trail, which is not cross glaciers and insured to the few exposed areas well with wire ropes. The paths, walkways and natural roads are slightly overall to go to moderate and therefore also suitable for those who are not experienced in the high mountains.

An exception, however, the stage from Rifugio Pian de Fontana Rifugio 7 ° Alpini (but can handle who she does not trust or the weather forces you to dodge ). Takes you over the Màrmol via ferrata, which is secured with steel ropes and ladders and sure-footedness, fear of heights and climbing skills requires to Difficulty II. Although this via ferrata is not technically very demanding, but it requires the climbers because of their great length quite a bit of stamina from. Therefore, this stage is for the experienced a culmination of the High Route and hence quite an experience, because on clear to see from the notch in the profile of Schiara from the sea or to smell, at least.

Characteristics

Hiking and magazines boast the Alta via n 1 as the most beautiful in the Dolomites mountain trails. From the ground smooth and steep slabs of Seekofel to the salty breeze that blows at a suitable wind direction in the nick of Schiara; from silent Federa - mountain lake to the chamois - colony in Van de Zita de Fora - on each of the stage waiting for great landscape and nature impressions. Ski lifts and ski slopes can be seen only from Passo falzarego on to Rifugio Cinque Torri.

Although huts easily accessible as the Fanes Hut to expect at concentration points such as the Braies and passports as the Passo falzarego with lots of activity; but many of the sections include surprisingly, despite their low level of difficulty on the one hand and its extraordinary scenic beauty on the other hand quite lonely. Especially south one encounters on the road even in the season just a few hikers and mountaineers.

The Dolomites Alta Via 1 performs three language areas and their associated cultures: Starting in German Pusteria, he then runs through the Ladin Fanesgebiet. The legends of the Ladin tell of peaks, places and names that met the walkers during the first stages of the High Route. South of the Passo falzarego eventually dominated the Italian language.

That was bitter fighting around the border between these areas during the First World War, of which testify of rusty barbed wire and deep tunnel at the Little Lagazuòi. What the former so-called alpine front has there left to visible traces, can be seen today in an open air museum.

Next on different saddles slightly up to the Forcella de la puina. From there, just continue on a promising cart path to Rifugio Città di Fiume. Finally, gently down on the right foot, alternately by light coniferous forest and the leafy debris slopes of Monte Pelmo up to the pass meadows with the Rifugio Passo Staulanza the valley of Val di Zoldo.

On a dirt road to casera Vescovà and on to the Forcella di Alleghe. Now in a wide sweeping streets, then steep a path on Monte Coldai up until the Rifugio Coldai moves into view. From there up to a notch to Lake Coldai around. At the edge of the Civetta along gravel up to the Forcella Col di Negro, back down into the Val Civetta, which is just traversed, after a short upstream peaks up to the hut.

Who only has a day time, may the verge of Moschesin branching, barely auszumachenden in the scrub, but very promising " sentiero La montagna dimenticata ", the select "Path of the Forgotten Mountain ": The Enemy to the south, towards the end highly exposed, but sure-footed and also secured with steel ropes. Steep descent in many serpentines to Forcella Pongol with an open hunting lodge, then either continue south down to a dilapidated, overgrown with tall grass man Almpfad through a gorge to the street or to the west to the Zelo around to La Valle or Agordo. Whoever brings adventure and sure-footed, can Passo Duràn from the north round to select the Tamèrgruppe and on a narrow track ( partially ferrata -like, stony and constantly up and down) on the Bivouac Angelini to Pian dei Palùi dismount. From there on gentle climb back up to the Rifugio Pramperét.

Fear of heights, sure-footedness, endurance and climbing skills required to Difficulty II. Short down on a steep forest path and back up to the Forcella La vareta, then exposed, but well on the riser cross the grassy slope. After the turnoff to the Rifugio Bianchet (variant in case of bad weather or lack of climbing equipment ) increasingly conjoined path. Now easy scramble over jagged rocks and rock steps to the Forcella del Màrmol up - from here overlooking the Nevegal mountains across the sea! From the Bivouac del Màrmol the ferrata very steep ladders and ropes along, sometimes disappearing on tapes in the folds of the narrow canyon, down begins. During the relatively long walkway, the hut is seen more often, that is, last, finally achieved after laborious descent over loose scree.
