History

The community at the Great Rift was on 1 July 2004 from the voluntary merger of previously independent municipalities Gunsleben, Hamersleben (first mentioned in 1021 ) and Neuwegersleben. It was founded by the communities joined forces at the Great Rift and Wulferstedt to a new community at the Great Rift on 1 January 2010 once again.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved 22 May 2012 by the county.

Blazon: " Argent, a blue wave bar; above four tied together at the ends to a sheaf of stalks red ears of corn, down on bended silver shield reason, a twin-towered red monastery church with ridge turret and seven arched windows. "

The spatial division by the eponymous former marshland characterizes today's landscape. Thus, individual parts of municipalities were to be achieved by construction of a new dam at Neuwegersleben only by ferry. This spatial division is represented by the blue wave bar, which divides the label geographically. It is the same as the symbol for the Great fracture, which has also given the community its name.

The coloring in red and silver or red and white is geared towards both the colors of the former diocese of Halberstadt, also all parts of municipalities and also the monastery in Hamersleben have heard, as well as the colors of the existing historic town coat of arms, mostly showing these colors.

The ears of corn are to be seen both as symbols of the most fertile flare - bottom parts of the community and in their symbolic number for each of the four districts. Incidentally, there is a certain historical continuity that the ears of corn played a major role in the arms of the previous administration unit. The surrounding it ring represents the merger of the municipalities in the new administration.

The monastery underlying stands on a curved shield reason. It presents in a stylized form is the former monastery of St. Pancras in the district Hamer life, which is also situated higher than the other parts of municipalities. This is the view from the east, which was chosen because most of the east choir makes the monastery in his Hirsauer style distinctive and thus makes the recognition value of the original structure in stylized emblem possible.

The former Augustinian Canons commits 2012, the 900th anniversary of its founding. It can already be seen in the landscape from afar forth from all directions and it dominated and shaped to its secularization in 1805 seen historically all parts of the church today. So, for example, owes the district Neuwegersleben its founding and multiple reconstruction solely the work of the monks in the monastery to Hamersleben, the architecturally and socially in its heyday until well beyond the current borders, and even enjoyed Europe-wide broadcasts.

The coat of arms was designed by Halle historian and Herald - Marc Robert Wistuba.
