American Eagle (airline brand)

Under the brand name American Eagle (German American Eagle ) lead since 1984, U.S. regional airlines by feeder flights for American Airlines.

Overview

These regional airlines are up on American Eagle Airlines, Inc. (since 2014: Envoy ) and PSA Airlines ( formerly a subsidiary of U.S. Airways ) non-group American Airlines Group (since 2013 successor to the AMR Corporation), but carry passengers only on behalf of American Airlines. These flights are indicated (Eng. performed by ... ) as " American Eagle operated by [name of airline ] ." The aircraft used is painted in the colors and with the logo of American Eagle. The corporate logo of American Airlines is a stylized eagle, which is the emblem of the United States of America. Therefore, in 1984 the name of American Eagle was selected for the network of regional flights. 2013, the logo of American Airlines and American Eagle has been renewed.

Brand History

The first flight under the name American Eagle was conducted on November 1, 1984 by Metro Flight Airlines based in Houston for American Airlines. Over the years, the American Eagle network was extended by another independent airlines, see former partner airlines. Starting in 1987, American Airlines began to buy up and consolidate the regional airlines. In 1991, four of these bought in airlines left: Simmons Airlines, Executive Airlines, Flagship Airlines and Wings West Airlines. In 1998, American Airlines bought up by mergers of regional airlines, the subsidiary American Eagle Airlines, Inc. For several years operated in the sequence, only the two subsidiary American Eagle Airlines and Executive Airlines flights under the name of American Eagle. Under the name American Connection carried out from 2001 Chautauqua Airlines from Chicago regional flights for American Airlines. Since the dissolution of American Connection 2012 Chautauqua Airlines is part of the American Eagle network. While the bankruptcy of American Airlines ( 2011-2013 ) it was decided that regional flights should be strengthened carried out by independent airlines on behalf of American Airlines again.
