American Musical and Dramatic Academy

The American Musical and Dramatic Academy ( AMDA ) is a college of the performing arts in New York City and Los Angeles, California. The Conservatory offers both the Bachelor of Fine Arts, as well as two-year certificates of professional performance to. Programs are offered in acting, musical theater, dance and performing arts. The AMDA is an officially recognized university of the American National Association of Schools of Theatre.

History

AMDA was founded in 1964 by Philip Burton and other celebrities of the New York theater scene. Burton was one of the drama teacher at the Academy and the adoptive father of Richard Burton, he has also taught.

The AMDA forms cast members from the categories theater, musicals, dance, film and television.

Campus

The campus in New York City is located on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. The main building is located in the west of 61st Street, just behind the Lincoln Center. The campus in Los Angeles is located in the heart of Hollywood entertainment area.
