Andrea Marcon

Andrea Marcon (* 1963 in Treviso ) is an Italian organist, harpsichordist and conductor.

Life and work

Andrea Marcon was harpsichord and organ students from Vanni Ussardi. From 1983 to 1987 he studied at the Schola Cantorum under Jean -Claude Zehnder, Jesper Christensen and Jordi Savall. He also attended master classes Koopman Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Hans van Nieuwkoop, Harald Vogel and sound.

He was 1985 winner of the Bach - Handel Competition in Bruges, in 1986 the Organ Competition in Innsbruck Paul Hofhaimer and 1991 of the Harpsichord Competition of Bologna. In 1986, he received the regions in Colmar Prize for music.

From 1983 to 1997 he was harpsichordist and organist and founder of the early music ensembles della Gioiosa Marca Sonatori. He called 1989 Organ Festival Città di Treviso e della Marca of Treviso, 1990, the Organ Academy of Castel Coldrano and 1995, the Organ Academy Città di Treviso to life. In 2002 he conducted the orchestra during performances at the Concertgebouw, at the Proms and in twenty U.S. cities. In 2004 he conducted at the Frankfurt Opera Handel's Ariodante. In February 2010, Marcon Vivaldi's opera Orlando Furioso newly furnished and conducted at the Frankfurt Opera. In 2005, he led with Katia and Marielle Bach's harpsichord concertos.

Since 1997, Andrea Marcon has taught at the Schola Cantorum in Basel harpsichord and by comparison is a guest lecturer at Sweelink Conservatorium in Amsterdam. Since 2009, Marcon has been artistic director of " La Cetra Baroque Orchestra Basel ". He also directed several operas at the Theater Basel, including La Calisto by Francesco Cavalli.
