Andrés Córdova

Andrés Fernández de Córdova Nieto ( born May 8, 1892 in Cañar, † October 3, 1983 in Quito ) was an Ecuadorian lawyer and politician of the Liberal Party and December 10, 1939 to August 10, 1940 in power ( poder del encargado ) his country.

Córdova received his doctorate in 1920 at the Universidad de Cuenca in law and then worked as a high school teacher and later principal. He was a Member of Parliament, Senator and in the government Luis Larrea Alba construction minister. In 1939 he was also represented in the Parliament this year died the president Aurelio Mosquera Narvaez, who was briefly replaced by Senate President Carlos Alberto Arroyo del Río. Then Córdova was briefly in his capacity as chairman of the House President and prepared the presidential and parliamentary elections.

After his tenure, he was still politically active, as mayor of Cuenca and 1951 as Minister of the Interior under President Galo Plaza Lasso. He also continued working as a university professor and dean, and later at the Universidad Central del Ecuador.

1968 Córdova went to the presidential election, but lost Velasco Ibarra.
