Andriy Mikhnov

Andrij Pawlowytsch Michnow (Ukrainian Андрій Павлович Міхнов, Russian Андрей Павлович Михнов / Andrei Pavlovich Michnow; * November 26, 1983 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian ice hockey player who is since 2013 in Metallurg Zhlobin in the Belarusian Extraliga under contract. His brother Alexei is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Club

Andrij Michnow began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League, where he until 2003 for the Sudbury Wolves, Kingston Frontenacs and Toronto St. Michael's Majors was active from 2001. During this period he was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in the second round than a total of 62 players from the St. Louis Blues, for which he, however, never played. Instead, he returned to Europe, where he signed a contract with the HK Lada Togliatti in Russia signed in 2003. For Lada Togliatti he gave during the 2004/05 season his debut in the Super League after second team in the third-class Perwaja League was already in the previous year for Ladas been active. The season 2004/ 05 ended the Ukrainians at Ladas Super League rivals Salavat Yulaev Ufa, but returned after the season to Lada Togliatti and scored in the 2005/06 season in 42 games and four goals were five templates. This year he won the IIHF Continental Cup Lada also.

From 2006 to 2008 Michnow played one year for Ak Bars Kazan long and HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Super League. For the season 2008/ 09, the Ukrainian international signed again at HK Lada Togliatti, who had been previously absorbed into the newly formed Continental Hockey League. After Togliatti had to retire in 2010 due to financial problems of the KHL, he moved within the league to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Following the 2010/11 season, his contract was not renewed. He then went to the second team of HK Donbass Donetsk with whom he was in the Professional Hockey League Ukrainian Champion. The following year he moved to league rivals HK Berkut. Although he won with the capital team, the main round of 2012/ 13, the club was excluded for financial reasons from the game before the start of the playoffs. Following this season, he joined the Belarusian Extraliga to Metallurg Zhlobin.

Internationally

For Ukraine Michnow participated in the World Championship of the top division in 2006, as well as the World Championships Division I 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 in part. He also stood for the Ukrainian team at the Olympic qualifications for the Vancouver Games in 2010 and 2014 in Sochi, where the Ukrainians failed both at the tournaments the second qualifying round, on the ice.
