Angela Browning, Baroness Browning

Angela Frances Browning, Baroness Browning ( born December 4, 1946) is a British politician ( Conservative Party ). She belonged to the House of Commons and is now a member of the House of Lords.

Life

Angela Browning was born as Angela Pearson in Reading. Her father worked as a laboratory assistant at the University of Reading. After visiting the Westwood Grammar School for Girls ( a Grammar School ) in Honey End Lane, Reading, she visited the Reading College of Technology and the Bournemouth College of Technology. After graduating she worked from 1968 to 1974 as a home economics teacher in adult education. In 1976, she worked for a year as self-employed in nursing. After that she was from 1977 sales and training manager at GEC Hotpoint. Since 1985 she has been an independent management consultant in 1994 and was director of a consulting firm for small businesses. 1988-1992 she ear Head of Women into Business.

She married on 6 January 1968 in Bournemouth David Browning. The marriage produced two sons have emerged.

Policy

In the British general election, 1987 she stood as a candidate in the constituency of Crewe and Nantwich, but they lost the election by only 1,092 votes short, and Labour MP Gwyneth Dunwoody was able to defend his position. In the British general election, 1992, she was put forward by their party in the safe constituency Tiverton. The previous mandate holder, Robin Maxwell - Hyslop was gone after 32 years in the House retire. Browning won the seat by a wide margin.

In parliament, she was from 1992 a member of the Select Committee the Ministry of Agriculture. She was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister of State at the Culture Minister Michael Forsyth in 1993 and President of the National Autistic Society. In 1994, she appeared in John Major's government as a Parliamentary Under Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, which she belonged to the dismissal of the government. It was 1997 Vice -President of the National Alzheimer 's Disease Society.

After the constituency of Tiverton was dissolved, Browing won at the British general election, 1997, the mandate in the new constituency of Tiverton and Honiton with a small majority.

Following the resignation of John Major as leader of the Conservative Party, she led the campaign of John Redwood. In the shadow cabinet of William Hague, she was spokesperson for education and employment. In 1998 she resigned from the job in order to fully take care of her son Robin, who suffers from autism.

In 1999 she went back into politics and was in the Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Industry from 2000 Shadow Leader of the House of Commons, so the contact person between the shadow cabinet and the Bureau of Parliament. After the British general election, 2001, she was spokesperson for the opposition for Verfassugsfragen and from April 2000 Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party. In the British general election, 2005, she held her seat with improved election results. On 17 November 2006 Browning stated in the 2010 elections no longer want to compete.

House of Lords

On 9 July 2010, she was raised as Baroness Browning of Whimple in the County of Devon in the peerage and since 13 July 2010 as one of the House of Lords as a representative of the Conservative Party.

After the formation of the Conservative - Liberal coalition government Lady Browning successor of James Brokenshire as Minister for Crime Prevention and Anti- Social Behaviour Reduction (comparable to a Secretary of State at the Home Office ). On September 16, 2011, she resigned from the government. Was succeeded by Lord Henley.
