Action

The story draws a bitter and ironic balance of U.S. society in the 1980s. Main topics are the Reagan era and the advent of AIDS.

The plot runs mainly in three different storylines. First, of Prior Walter, who is suffering from AIDS. His friend Louis leaves him, because he can not cope with the situation. Second, the lawyer of Joe Pitt, which is indeed married to Harper, but secretly investigated his gay acquaintances. Third, the Topanwalt of Roy Cohn, he is also infected with HIV. He is a representative of the corrupt legal system of the United States.

In the stories dive yet many other people on: the mother of Pitt, who sold her house in Salt Lake City and travels to New York when she learns of the homosexuality of her son, Belize, nurse of Roy Cohn and best friend of Prior and the angels that come up again and again.

In the combination of the individual storylines expect play and film from a religious fanaticism, the emerging AIDS hysteria, discrimination of all types and at all interpersonal behavior patterns.

Reviews (TV series)

" [ A ] landmark in the history of television art (yes, that exists ) [ ...] We not only look at people in very concrete life and suffering states, we see [ ... ] all the right [ ... ] to the internal state of a nation. [ ... The drama ] unfolds it might be a little too much sorrow and too little anger. "

" Kushner's brilliance can hardly be denied. [ ... ] Nichols ' version has the message is not watered down, but you alone to look on the living room TV, reduced the whole to the sum of its parts. What is missing is the sense of community of the theater. To get the most out of the film, you should watch it with friends. , Angels in America ' calls for celebration. "
