Anna Margaret of Hesse-Homburg

Anna Margaret of Hesse -Homburg ( born August 31, 1629 in Homburg, † August 3, 1686 in Oberkotzau ) was a princess of Hesse- Homburg and by marriage Duchess of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Wiesenburg.

Life

Anna Margaret was the only daughter of Landgrave Frederick I of Hesse- Homburg (1585-1638) from his marriage to Margaret Elizabeth (1604-1667), daughter of Count Christoph von Leiningen- Westerburg.

She married on 5 May 1650 in Homburg Duke Philipp Ludwig von Holstein - Wiesenburg ( 1620-1689 ), of the Office and Wiesenburg acquired in 1663.

In 1659 the godson Anna Margarete Johanna Eleonora of Merleau came into the service of the duchess, who later developed as the wife of Johann Wilhelm Petersen a separatist pietism. She was also known herein Philipp Jacob Spener and with Johann Jakob Schütz and developed a deep friendship with Anna Margaret daughter Sophie Elizabeth.
