Philip Louis, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Wiesenburg

Philipp Ludwig von Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Wiesenburg ( born October 27, 1620 Beck, † March 10, 1689 in Schneeberg ) was the first Duke of and founder of the line of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Wiesenburg. His family branch of the House of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg renamed itself after lying near Zwickau Wiesenburg Castle.

Life

Philipp Ludwig was the youngest son of Duke Alexander of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg (1573-1627) from his marriage to Dorothea (1579-1639), daughter of Count Johann Günther I of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen.

Philipp Ludwig lived first at various farms in Hesse. In 1663 he acquired the Saxon Elector Johann Georg II, to whom he was in a very good relationship, the rule meadow castle with the castle and the town of Kirchberg and 20 villages. Wiesenburg became the seat of the Duke and his line was the name.

In 1668, he ordered Johann Winckler for the education of his sons to Wiesbaden castle. The promotion of mining in Schneeberg and Neustädtel Philipp Ludwig was wealthy and had the Wiesenburg comprehensively renovated and used.

Under the company name, the welfare of any kind, he was accepted as a member of the Fruitbearing society.

Until 1672 Philipp Ludwig imperial field marshal lieutenant was in a Cuirassier Regiment. In 1675 he sold the castle and Office Wiesenburg to his eldest son. Philipp Ludwig acquired in 1686 Oberkotzau and lived before his death at his friend Veit Hans Schnorr von Carol Field in Schneeberg.

Marriages and descendants

He completed his first marriage on November 15, 1643 in Lemgo with Catherine ( 1612-1649 ), daughter of Count Christian of Waldeck- Wildungen. From this marriage two children were born:

His second wife, Anna Margaret (1629-1686), daughter of the Landgrave Frederick I of Hesse- Homburg, he married on 5 May 1650 in Homburg. With her he had the following children:

For the third time he married in Greiz on July 28, 1688 Christine Magdalene ( 1652-1697 ), daughter of Count Heinrich I of Reuss to Obergreiz. This marriage remained childless.
