Annette Funicello

Annette Joanne Funicello ( born October 22, 1942 in Utica, New York, USA, † April 8, 2013 in Bakersfield, California ) was an American pop music singer and actress.

Life

The Funicello family moved to Annette's early childhood to Los Angeles, where her father hoped for better career opportunities. Her mother reported Annette to dance classes and unconsciously laid the foundation stone Annette's career as an artist. At a public dance performance Walt Disney became aware of Annette and hired her in 1955 as a musketeer for his popular television show The Mickey Mouse Show. By 1957, Annette has become one of the most popular Musketeers, and spent that time numerous fan mail.

In a TV show Anette sang the song How Will I Know My Love, the Disney so pleased that he brought it out for his newly founded record label Disneyland Records on vinyl. In the summer of 1959, the 16 -year-old Annette ended up with the title Tall Paul at No. 7 on the Billboard Singelcharts, and thus increased in America for teen star. This period also saw the release of their LP Annette Sings Anka, a consequence of their brief affair with Paul Anka, who had dedicated their previously his hit Puppy Love falls. Since Disneyland Records was mainly aimed at the audience of children, Annette joined late as 1959 for pop-oriented sister company Buena Vista. There, too, were their plates, which were still published only by their first name until 1961, all successful. With O Dio Mio she reached again ranked number 10 in Billboard. Until 1965, Annette stayed with Vista under contract, then moved to Tower Records, but big hits stopped coming into being.

Mid-sixties, Annette Funicello launched another career, now as a film actress. After she had previously starred in many Disney TV series, she took the lead female role in the film series Beach, which began in 1964 with Beach Party. Her partner was singer Frankie Avalon colleague. 1987 both were once again on the Beach in revival Back To The Beach. The music also extractions from the 1964 released movie Monkey's Uncle were Annette's most successful LP. In the same film, she accompanied the Beach Boys in the opening scene. After her starring role in the 1968 cult film Monkees Head to Funicello drew largely withdrew from show business, and devoted himself mainly her family. She had married her manager in 1965 and in 1966 for the first time mother, was born in 1974 to her third child. 1987 Annette ill with multiple sclerosis, but that did not prevent a few years later to start a Teddy Bear company and bring out the self-created perfume "Cello ". In addition, she was active in charitable organizations, such as the Annette Funicello Fund for Neurological Disorders. In 1993 she received a star on the Walk of Fame, a year later, she published her autobiography, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes: My Story, which was published in 1995 as a TV movie.

In 2013 she died at the age of 70 from complications of MS disease.
