Anton Dolin

Anton Dolin ( born July 27, 1904 in Slinfold, † November 25, 1983 in Paris), actually Sydney Francis Patrick Healey - Kay Chippendall, was an English ballet dancer and choreographer. He was the first Briton, who received the title of premier danseur.

Life

Dolin received his ballet training at Bronislava Nijinska, Serafina Astafjewa and Nicolas Legat. In 1921 he joined the Ballets Russes, the soloist, he was in 1923. In the 1930s, he was a soloist of the Vic- Wells Ballet. 1940-1946 he worked as a soloist and choreographer at the American Ballet Theatre. During this time he reconstructed numerous classics of ballet history.

Founded in 1950 along with Alicia Markova Dolin, the London Festival Ballet (today's English National Ballet).

1981 Dolin was appointed Knight.
