Arajik Marutjan

Araik Vitaly Marutjan or Arayk Witaliyi Marutyan ( born August 15, 1992) is a German boxer of Armenian descent. He has (as of December 2013) # 3 on the AIBA World Ranking welterweight and is therefore best placed amateur boxer in Germany.

Boxing career

Araik Marutjan was born in Armenia, about 1.79 m tall and trained in sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr and the BC Traktor Schwerin. In order to increase its notoriety, especially in the national space and recognition of reasons, in appearance, he appears under the stage name " Rayko Lion". Since 2008, he has German citizenship.

Was Marutjan 2009 German youth champion in the light welterweight division, where he succeeded against Erich Lang, Thomas Vahrenholdt and Yevgeny jabs. In 2010 he was with wins against Ilya Fiberg, Yöreci Aytekin and Artyom Daschjan, German champion in the light welterweight division. In 2012 he won the German championship in the welterweight division after he had Sebastian Knigge, Steven Swan, Slava Kerber and Vincenzo Gualtieri defeated. In 2013 he was able to win the German championship welterweight title after he had prevailed against Abdelilah El Karouia, Serkan Oral, Abbas Baraou and Slava Kerber.

His first major international success was the gold medal in the bantamweight title at the 5th Baltic Youth Championships in Germany in 2007. In 2009, he won a bronze medal in the light welterweight, at the 21th European Youth Championships in Poland. After victories against Victor Carapcevschi from Moldova (7:0), Muhammet Aydın from Turkey ( 5:1) and Vladimir Margarian from Armenia (1:0), he only lost in the semi-final against Alexander Besputin from Russia ( 3:7 ).

In September 2012, he reached the second place in the welterweight division at the 1st European Military Championships in Estonia. Three months later, he took part in the welterweight division at the first U22 European Championships in Russia; after victories against Waleriu Sirbu from Moldova ( 13:4 ) and Ričardas Kuncaitis from Lithuania, he left in the semifinal against Artem selenium Frankowski from Russia ( 14:17 ) and therefore received a bronze medal.

In June 2013 he became vice - European champion welterweight in Minsk. He defeated it Aleš Kujavec from Slovenia ( TKO ), Onur SIPAL from Turkey ( 3:0), room Kwachatadse from Georgia ( 3-0) and Pawel Kostromin from Belarus (2:1 ) before he was only in the final against Alexander Besputin (0:3) was eliminated. He scored another success at the 17th World Championships in October 2013 in Almaty. After a walk for the first preliminary round, he defeated then Onder SIPAL from Turkey, Simeon Chamow from Bulgaria and Fred Evans of Wales, before losing only in the semifinals against Danijar Jeleussinow from Kazakhstan and thus won a bronze medal in the welterweight division. In December 2013 his record was 105 victories in 127 battles.

In the 2013/2014 season Marutjan starts for Team Germany at the World Series of Boxing. His first fight he won here on November 16, 2013 against Fehim Chabane from Algeria Desert Hawks. In his second fight on 11 December 2013 he finally suffered a defeat against Vincenzo Mangiacapre from Team Dolce Gabbana Italia Thunder. On February 22, 2014, he also was defeated on points against the world rankings Second Gabriel Maestre from Venezuela, who went to the start for Team USA knockouts.
