Areeiro is the name of a municipality ( freguesia ) of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. It was created on 29 September in 2013, the administrative reorganization of the city from the merger of the municipalities Alto do Pina and São João de Deus. Covering an area of 1.76 km ² live 20,030 inhabitants (as of 30 June 2011).

Location

The municipality comprises the district west, south and east of Praça Francisco Sá Carneiro ( the former Praça do Arreiro ) between Entrecampos and Olaias. It is bounded on the south by the Avenida Duque d' Ávila do, the Avenida de Rovisco Pais, the Alameda de D. Afonso Henriques, the Rua de Cristóvão Falcão, the Rotunda, the Olaias, the Jardim de Tristão da Silva, Rua de Olivença, the Rua do Prof. Mira Fernandes, the western edge of the Escola Secundária the Olaias and the Avenida de Carlos pinhão, to the east by the Parque da Bela Vista, on the north by the Avenida de São João de Deus and the Rua de João and west by the Rua de Entrecampos, Campo Pequeno, the Rua do Arco do Cego, the Rua de Costa Goodolfim, the Avenida do Visconde de Valmor and the Rua de D. Filipa de Vilhena.

Neighboring municipalities are Alvalade in the north, the east Marvila, Beato, Penha de França and Arroios in the south and Avenidas Novas in the West.
