It was created on 29 September in 2013, the administrative reorganization of the city from the merger of the municipalities Lapa and Santos -o -Velho and Prazeres. Covering an area of 2.85 km ² live 19915 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011).
Location
The township is bounded on the south by the north bank of the Tagus, in the east by the Avenida de D. Carlos I, the calçada da Estrela, Rua de Correia Garção and the Rua de São Bento, the north by the Rua de Santo Amaro, the Rua de São Bernardo, the Rua de João Anastácio Rosa, Rua de São Jorge, the Rua da Estrela, Rua de Saraiva de Carvalho, the Rua do Patrocínio, the Rua de Santo António à Estrela, Rua de Possidónio da Silva, the Rua do Coronel Ribeiro Viana, the Praça de São João Bosco, the Estrada dos Prazeres and the west side of the Cemitério dos Prazeres, on the west by the Avenida de Ceuta, the Rua de João de Oliveira Miguens, the Rua de Cascais, the Viaduto de Alcântara and the Doca de Alcântara.
Neighboring municipalities are Alcântara in the West, Campo de Ourique in the north and in the east Misericordia.
