Arni

Arni ( in local dialect: [ ɑ ː ɾni ] ) is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Aargau. It is located in the district of Bremgarten on the border of the canton of Zurich and was built in 1983 by the split of the former municipality of Arni Islisberg.

Geography

The village is just over three kilometers east of the Reuss, in the middle of the trough- shaped plateau of Holzbirrlibergs. To the north, the land rises gently to the Seegaden (610 m above sea level. M. ) that towards the south to Himmelsbüel (628 m above sea level. M. ) and Rainhau ( 594 m above sea level. M. ). Just to the east, towards the hill of Islisberg, the terrain becomes steeper. The plain is drained by the Arnibach, which flows in Unterlunkhofen into the river.

The area of the municipality is 337 hectares, of which 100 hectares covered by forests and built over 58 hectares. The highest point is located on 643 meters on the eastern boundary of the municipality, the deepest at 517 meters at the Arnibach.

Neighboring municipalities are Aesch in the north, Islisberg in the east, in the southeast Hedingen, Jonen the southwest, and Oberlunkhofen Unterlunkhofen in the west and Oberwil- Lieli in the northwest.

History

The earliest evidence of settlements in the municipality of Arni date from 800-500 BC The village was part of the Kelnhofes Lunkhofen, which was in the year 694 the monastery of St. Leger paid in Lucerne and adjacent Arni also Islisberg, Jonen, Oberlunkhofen and Unterlunkhofen included. The place is first mentioned in 1184-1190 in a document of the monastery Engelberg Arne. The name comes from an Old High German * ahornahi composition and means maple grove '.

In the Middle Ages there was a small castle of kyburgisch Habsburg Ministerialengeschlechts, which has remained, however, received nothing. 1291 Rudolf I bought the Kelnhof, even the city of Lucerne and 15 other villages arrived for 2000 marks of silver in the possession of the Hapsburgs. By joining the new canton of Arni and Islisberg merged to form community Arni Islisberg.

In the second half of the 20th century, Arni - Islisberg developed into a rapidly growing suburban community, where growth remained limited to Arni. The residents of the district Islisberg felt increasingly marginalized, even though they could make independent decisions on tax issues, the education and construction. In 1974 she demanded in a consultative vote, form a separate parish. The Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau in 1978 rejected this at first, since there was no legal basis for this. At the 2000 census, 41.6 % were Roman Catholic. 34.3% reformed and 1.9% Muslim. 2.0% belonged to other faiths. 94.8 % identified German as their main language, 1.3% French, 0.9% Italian, 0.6% each Albanian and English.

Politics and Law

Traffic

Arni is located about 15 minutes by car from Zurich. Two post car lines that run from the Zurich train station Wiedikon about Arni to Muri or to Affoltern am Albis. Another line runs from Arni about Islisberg after Bonstetten. Since 2008 Arni is even more accessible after the Zurich western bypass has been opened ( A4 ).

Education

The municipality has a kindergarten and a primary school. The real and the secondary school can be visited in Jonen, the district school in Bremgarten. The nearest district school (high school ) is located in Wohlen.
