Arrondissement of Lisieux
The arrondissement Lisieux is an administrative district in the department of Calvados in the French region of Lower Normandy.
History
On 4 March 1790, founded with the establishment of the department of Calvados, a " district Lisieux ", but was smaller than the present district. The district was established with the founding of the arrondissement on 17 February 1800, when arrondissement Lisieux. On September 10, 1926, the arrondissement has been increased by the area of the former arrondissements Pont- l'Évêque.
Geography
The district consists of the located in the department of Calvados part of the Pays d'Auge. It is bordered to the north by the English Channel and the estuary of the Seine, on the east by the arrondissement Bernay in Eure (Haute -Normandie ), in the south of the arrondissement Argentan in Orne and to the west the district of Caen.
