ASA Târgu Mureș (1962)

AS Armata Tirgu Mures (abbreviated ASA Târgu Mureş ) was a Romanian sports club from Târgu Mureş. In the 1970s he was able to attend three times in the UEFA Cup. Besides football, it has divisions for boxing, weightlifting and judo.

History

ASA Târgu Mureş was founded in 1962. Back in 1967, managed the club to promotion to the Divizia A, the highest Romanian league. As early as 1970 but had to ASA descend as Table back into the Divizia B.

After chances of promotion to ASA developed in the 1970s into one of the most successful teams in Divizia A. After a 4th place in the 1971/72 season and two years relegation battle was ASA in the season 1974/75 runners-up behind Dinamo Bucharest and qualified for the UEFA Cup. There, however, the team already retired on the first round against Dynamo Dresden. After a 3rd place in the 1975/76 season and a 4th place 1976/77 to ASA qualifying twice for the UEFA Cup, but never reached the second round.

This was the most successful period of ASA Târgu Mureş but already over. After a few years in the lower middle of the Divizia A ASA had in the 1985/86 season once again take the course in the second division. After two more ascents and descents to ASA 1991/92, adopted at the end of the season to date from the Divizia A. After a few years in Divizia A during the 1990 ASA rose at the beginning of the 21st century in Divizia C from where the club played until 2005.

Although ASA had many talents in his football school, the club struggled for survival. ASA was little support from the local economy and politics, so that many candidates had to be sold in order to keep the finances balanced.

On 1 June 2005, the club was disbanded. The last president of the association, Virgil Lăcătuşu, founded in a suburb of Târgu Mureş a new club under the name ACS Maris ASA Târgu Mureş, who survived two more years in Divizia C until it was dissolved in 2007 also. 2008 FC Unirea ASA Ungheni joined the successor to the League III. The original site of the association in Târgu Mureş became Meanwhile, the bone of contention between the mayor's office and Ministry of Defence and fell completely.
