Aspermont is a town us the county seat of administration ( county seat ) of Stonewall County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in the central northwestern Texas, about 380 kilometers west of Dallas, where the Highway 380 and Highway 83, and Highway 610, 2211 and 1263 meet and has a total area of 5.4 km ² without significant water surface.

History

Was founded the settlement in 1889 by AL Rhomberg, the settlement gave the name ( Aspermont means (Latin ) ' rugged mountain ') and placed the country. Whether Rhomberg has something to do with the owners of the ruins of Neu - Aspermont in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland, is uncertain, but quite possible. Even in the first year the first post office was opened. 1898 lived here already 250 people and the small town was chosen as the district capital. 1910, there were 600 people. By 1920, the population dropped to 436 people. Thanks to the oil discoveries, the population grew to 1041 residents by 1940.
