Assaba Region

Assaba (Arabic ولاية العصابة, DMG Wilāyat al - ʿ Asaba ) is an administrative region in the south of the West African country of Mauritania.

The capital is Assabas Kiffa, another important center is Kankossa. Assaba is divided into five departments Barkewol, Boumdeid, Guérou, Kankossa and Kiffa.

The region is bordered to the north by the administrative regions Brakna and Tagant, to the east by Hodh El Gharbi, south to the neighboring country of Mali and to the west by Gorgol and Guidimaka.
