Hodh Ech Chargui Region

Hodh Ech Chargui (Arabic الحوض الشرقي, DMG al - Haud aš - šarqī ) is the first Administrative Region in Mauritania. Its capital is Néma, other important towns are Bagrou needle as the largest city in the region, Boû Gâdoûm, Timbedra, Boû steep and Walata.

Hodh Ech Chargui is divided into six departments: Amourj, Bassikounou, Timbedra, Djigueni, Néma and Oualata. The region is surrounded by the regions Hodh El Gharbi, Adrar and Tagant from the west and from the east and south of Mali.
