Inchiri Region

Inchiri (Arabic ولاية إينشيري, DMG Wilāyatu Inšīrī ) is the ninth of thirteen administrative regions of the West African country of Mauritania.

In the east Inchiri adjacent to the administrative region Adrar, Trarza to the south and to Dakhlet Nouadhibou in the north and west. In addition, there is also a short coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. The sparsely populated region consists of sand and stone desert. In the 2000 census, it had 11,500 inhabitants.

Inchiri consists of only one department called Akjoujt; The capital and only town is Akjoujt, in whose vicinity copper is mined. In the oasis Benichab ( Bennichchab ) is a fountain with fossil water that is bottled here in bottles and supplied via a line Akjoujt with drinking water.
