Astrid Hjertenæs Andersen

Astrid Gerd Hjertenæs Judith Andersen ( born September 5, 1915 in Horten, † April 21, 1985 in Ramnes ) was a Norwegian writer, who came mainly as a poet in appearance. Andersen is one of the most important Norwegian poets of the postwar period.

Life

Andersen was the daughter of Peder YES Hjertenæs, an officer of the Royal Norwegian Navy, and Elinor Astrid Andersen. She was trained as a secretary and a journalist and worked, among others at the newspaper Aftenposten. In 1939 she married the painter Snorre Andersen.

1940 and 1941 appeared the first of her poems in the newspapers Aftenposten and Dagbladet. From 1942 she was mainly working as a writer. Her first collection of poems, De ville traner, appeared in 1945 in a small publishing house called Hovik Bokhandel. Other books followed in Aschehoug and Gyldendal. Some of her books were illustrated by her husband. For Frokost i det grønne it was in 1964 awarded the Literature Prize critics prizes. Andersen also published two reports about trips they took together with her husband to Algeria and Iceland, as well as a novel.

From 1974 to 1979 Andersen was a member of the literary Council of the Norwegian Writers' Association.
