ATTINGHAUSEN is a municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland.

Geography

ATTINGHAUSEN lies on the left bank of the Reuss at around 469 meters above the sea.

Bloss 80 ha or 1.7 % of the community are built-up area. Of these, 45 ha building or industrial area and 15 ha traffic area. More important is the agricultural land with 1651 ha or a share of 35.3 %. Among them are 1417 ha of Alpine regions. In addition, 820 ha or 17.5 % of the municipal area of woods and forests are covered. Unproductive for covering large areas of the municipality, namely 2131 ha or 45.5%. These are almost exclusively to areas without vegetation ( high mountains) or unproductive vegetation ( high alpine vegetation).

ATTINGHAUSEN bordered to the west by the municipality of Obwalden Engelberg, on the north by Isenthal and Seedorf UR, on the east by Altdorf UR, UR Bourguillon, Schattdorf and Erstfeld and on the south by Wassen.

Population

The population was 1860 530 people. Was followed by a decline in population until 1888 (1860-1888: -51 persons or -9.6 %). Then there was a decades-long growth phase until 1960 During this period the population grew to two and a half times as much. ( 1888-1960: 148.4 %). After a small slump in the 1960s, the city in 1980 counted again the same number of inhabitants as in 1960 Since then, strong growth has begun ( 1980-2005: 323 inhabitants or 27.0 %)..

Languages

The population speaks a high- Alemannic dialect. Almost the entire population speaks German as a daily vernacular. At the last census in 2000 gave 96.64 % German, 0.64% and 0.47 % Serbo-Croatian Dutch as the main language.

Religions - faiths

The population was formerly full member of the Roman Catholic Church. The confessional relations in 2000 can still recognize the original structure. 1384 people were Catholic ( 93.07 %). There were 3.30% Evangelical Protestant Christians and the 0.87 % Orthodox Christians and non-religious. 8 people (0.54 %) did not respond to their creed.

Origin - Nationality

From the end of 2005 1520 residents were 1481 ( 97.43 %), Swiss nationals. The immigrants originate mainly from southern Europe (Portugal and Italy), the former Yugoslavia and Sri Lanka. At the 2000 census, 1438 people ( 99.70% ) were Swiss citizens; it possessed 22 people dual citizenship.

Age structure

The municipality has a high proportion of younger people. While the proportion of people under twenty constitutes 27.24 % of the local population, are only just 17.2% elderly (60 years and older). This is a consequence of the migration of young people from the upper country and abroad in the period after 1980.

Legislature

The local council is the legislative body. It occurs usually meets twice a year.

Executive

The seven-member council is the executive. He is a part-time working. Current mayor is Othmar Arnold (2012 ).

Economy

In 2005, there were 44 farms that offered 102 jobs. Industrial employees working in 10 workplaces 80, the service sector in 19 farms 153 persons ( employment on a full- time equivalent ). The 2000 census revealed 47 agricultural and forestry enterprises with 119 employees. The census in 2001 came on 11 industrial and commercial enterprises with 75 and 28 service companies with 171 employees. Of the economically active in 2000 745 people Attinghausens worked only 177 ( 23.76 %) in their own community. Overall, the place offered 296 people to jobs, of which 177 ( 59.80 %) were locals.

The 568 commuters do their work mostly in other municipalities of the canton of Uri. Among 249 persons in Altdorf, 74 in Shatt village, 30 in Flüelen, 28 in Bourguillon, 26 and 23 in Erstfeld in Seedorf. The community of Schwyz ( with 30 people) the only outside the canton of workplace importance. There were 119 commuters. These came mainly from Altdorf (27 persons), Schattdorf (23 ), Seedorf ( 16) and Bourguillon (13).

Attractions

In ATTINGHAUSEN is the ruins of the mountain pig. This was first mentioned as the seat of the nobles of ATTINGHAUSEN 1240 and 1365 - probably by Uri farmers - burned down.
