The Aubach is a 20 km long river in the Bavarian Spessart. It rises in meadows in the district of Aschaffenburg and flows Partenstein in Landkreis Main -Spessart from the right and west to the Lohr.

Name

The original name Wiesbach goes back to the previous words wise for meadow and creek for brook. The name of the creek and meadows of the place have the same origin. The stream name passed over on the place Wiesthal part. The present form Aubach is a synonym.

Geography

Aubachquelle

The Aubach rises to about 400 m above sea level. NN in meadows of the decisions taken in sandstone Aubachquelle. It is one of the largest sources in the Spessart. After a few meters to the right of Aubach united with his second, 2 km long input stream, the Wiesbüttgraben. This springs from the past to 436 m Wiesbüttsee, a raised bog in the Spessart. In this Wiesbüttgraben cards is often depicted as the upper reaches of Aubaches, but in summer it often leads little, sometimes no water at all, so then the dry creek bed is fed only by the Aubachquelle in meadows with water. According to the Wiesbüttsee is also regarded as an upper Aubachquelle.

Course

After the meadows Aubach under the state road 2305 ( German Alps Holiday Get - Baltic ). It flows to the southeast on through a pristine valley, which is part of the Spessart Nature Reserve meadows. After Habichsthal he feeds the lying there Aubachseen. Below Wiesthal it flows from the West its biggest tributary to the coming of Heinrichsthal Lohr Bach, and he runs below about further in its direction. He is spanned by Kromm Thal twice by viaducts of the Main-Spessart -Bahn. In the likewise belonging to the Spessart Nature Reserve meadows Langetalwiesen the creek and the right arm divides flows through a landscaped open stone channel. In Partenstein this re-united with the left and Aubach then opens from the right and west to the Lohr.

In some older maps of Aubach is shown as a left tributary of the Lohr Bach.
