Aurelijus Skarbalius

Aurelijus " Auri " Skarbalius ( born May 12, 1973 in Vilnius ) is a former Lithuanian footballer. Career

Skarbalius began playing football in his home country at Banga Kaunas. In 1991 he moved to FK Zalgiris Vilnius. Through its operations in the A Lyga he made the leaders of the Lithuanian national attention and made ​​his debut on 15 November 1991 as part of the Baltic Cup in a 4-1 win over Estonia in the National Jersey. In 1994 he moved to league rivals Inkaras Kaunas, with whom he won the 1995 national champion. Skarbalius then moved to Brøndby IF in the Super League. At first he could not prevail at the club and got only irregularly stakes. Nevertheless, he contributed to the three league titles between 1996 and 1998 and ran in the Champions League match 1998/99 season for the club in the UEFA Champions League. In the new millennium, he made ​​a breakthrough and established himself as a regular player. 2002 him the club supporters voted player of the year at Brøndby IF.

After the commitment of the Danish international's Asbjørn Sennels 2004 Skarbalius sat under coach Michael Laudrup mostly only on the bench.
