Authoison

Authoison is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Authoison situated at an altitude of 270 m above sea level, about 15 km south of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village extends north of the river valley Ognon, in a basin at the source of Ruisseau d' Authoison, between the forest heights of Bois Lajus in the south and Bois de Filain in the north.

The area of ​​16.02 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the south and Ognon Saône in the northwest. The main part of the area occupied by the basin of Authoison, the average is 280 m and has a diameter of approximately 3 km. It is primarily used for agricultural purposes. For drainage to the south by a narrow valley of the Ruisseau d' Authoison, which rises in the area of the village provides. The basin is flanked by plateau-like hills, usually reach the heights 300-360 m. To the north, the municipality's area extends into the forested areas of the Bois du Grand Buisson (350 m ) and the Bois de Filain whose plateaus are composed of limestone of the middle Jurassic period. Neighboring communities of Authoison are Échenoz -le- Sec and Filain in the North, Vy- lès- Filain and Villers- Father in the east, the south and Ruhans Quenoche and Pennesières in the West.

History

Already in the 11th century made ​​Authoison a parish. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The noble family of d' Authoison family has occupied since 1174. This gave Authoison 1206 the monastery Bellevaux. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. After the French Revolution was Authoison, the then called Antoison, 1793 for a short time the capital of a separate canton. This was, however, in 1801 the canton Montbozon affiliated. Since 2000 Authoison is a member of the comprehensive 21 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Montbozon.

Population

With 255 inhabitants ( 2005) Authoison one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 432 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Was Authoison until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
