Development

The development work started at the beginning of the 1930s, ie at the time when Avia with Škoda merged and moved into larger production facilities in Prague- Čakovice. The new chief designer of the company, František Novotný wanted a fighter for the Hispano -Suiza 12 Nbr - motor construct whose license production just started off under the name Avia Vr -36. He was guided by the designs of its predecessors, the development team Pavel Beneš and Miroslav Hajn. Thus, the model also showed strong similarity with the Avia designs of the 1920s. The B-34 was a existing of a tubular steel frame and fabric -covered with biplane with fixed landing gear and a bold radiator under the engine. In the short, two fuel tanks were each 135 liters, another 50 liters in the central part of the upper wing.

On February 2, 1932 launched Avia - chief test pilot Vaclav Koci on its maiden flight. He went to the satisfaction, yet you took before minor changes. The radiator was a bit offset to the rear and fitted with vertical blinds.

The decrease of the aircraft by the Defense Department drew down to 1934, only a small series of twelve B-34 was ordered and delivered. František Novotný decided to revise the aircraft fundamentally and developed it further to the B- 534.
