Awakenings

Awakenings (Original Title: Awakenings ) is an American film drama from 1990 was directed by Penny Marshall, and written by Steven Zaillian, based on Oliver Sacks' book Awakenings ( consciousness dawns, German 1989).. The film starred Robert De Niro and Robin Williams.

Action

The in the 1960s working in New York City doctor Malcolm Sayer explores the European sleeping sickness. The decades patient suffering are regarded as incurable.

Sayer uses a means ( levodopa or short L-dopa ), which he hopes to return to the present in a comatose state for decades patients to normal life. The first patient on whom the agent was tried was Leonard Lowe, who was at that time for 30 years in a state of coma. Lowe regained consciousness, his rehabilitation begins. After some time to relapse, eventually falls Lowe back into a coma.

The film is based on true events, the experienced native of Great Britain doctor Oliver Sacks in the 1960s at New York's Beth Abraham Hospital.

Soundtracks

The music was composed in 1990 by Randy Newman.
