Azagor

Azagor is a rural municipality in the department of Dakoro in Niger.
Geography
Azagor lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Bermo in the north, I Roumbou in the east, Birni LaLLe in the southeast and west, and Dakoro in the southwest. The municipality is divided into four administrative villages, four traditional villages, hamlets and four nine water points. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Azagor.
History
The rural community Azagor originated as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Birni LaLLe.
Population
At the 2001 census Azagor had 3635 inhabitants. For the year 2010 4915 population were calculated. Azagor is the capital of the Tuareg Kel Gress subgroup. Apart from Hausa and Fulani Tuareg living in the community.
Economy and infrastructure
The municipality is located in a zone is operated in the Agropastoralismus. The bad climatic conditions make it difficult to agricultural activities. In the implementation of part of the peace agreement of 1995 between the Tuareg and the Central Government in Niamey infrastructure such as a school, a health center, a granary and a cattle vaccination station were established in the capital.
