Sabon -Machi (also: Sabon Machi, Sabonmachi ) is a rural municipality in the department of Dakoro in Niger.

Geography

Sabon -Machi is located in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Adjékoria in the north, Kornaka in the east, in the southeast Maïyara, Chadakori in the south and Dan Goulbi in the West. The municipality is divided into 36 administrative villages, a traditional village, 13 hamlets and a warehouse. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Sabon -Machi (also: Sabon Machi ).

History

The village of Sabon -Machi was built around 1850 by Bako Attabou, a man from Tessaoua, founded, which was accompanied by a famous marabout. The Hausa place name means " new spear". With a new lance the tradition beheaded for Bako Attabou the kidnapper of his daughter. The rural community of Sabon -Machi was founded in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Kornaka forth.

Population

At the 2001 census, Sabon -Machi had 25,205 inhabitants. For the year 2010 34.079 inhabitants were calculated. The majority of the population are the Hausa subgroups Tagamawa, Katsinawa, Gobirawa and Adarawa. In addition, partly nomadic and partly sedentary Tuareg and Fulani live in the rural community.

Policy

Mayor 's Harouna Dan Fadji ( since 2011 ) of the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism ( PNDS - Tarayya ). The city council has eleven members.

Economy and infrastructure

In Sabon -Machi is an important weekly market for livestock and crops. Market day is Tuesday. The market area is regularly flooded during the rainy season and becomes temporarily unusable. The main industries of the population is agriculture, animal husbandry and trade. The municipality is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture. For medical care, a health center ( center de santé stand packages ), a maternity ward and an eight health houses ( cases de santé ) are available. There is a middle school, a Koranic school and three primary schools in the rural community. By Sabon -Machi the National Road 30, which connects the village with the departmental capital Dakoro in the north and the rural community Chadakori in the south where it meets the National Highway 1 runs.
