Azal Tinto

The red variety Azal Tinto is an autochthonous variety from Portugal. We recommend its cultivation in the regions of Douro, Minho, Beira Interior Norte Beira Interior Sul.

The grapes are harvested in mid-September to mid-October and provide a very highly colored red wine with very high content of malic acid, which is used as the basis for the red Vinho Verde. The proportion of acid is an important component for the malolactic fermentation of wine.

In addition to the variety Azal Tinto still include the varieties Alberto Azal, Azal Azedo, Doce Azal, Azal Azal Branco and Preto on the vine family Azal.
