Azizulhasni Awang

Mohammed Azizulhasni Awang ( born January 5, 1988 in Dungun, Malaysia ) is a Malaysian track cyclist.

Azizulhasni Awang was born as the eighth of nine children. As a reward for a good score in 7th grade his father gave him a used bike. With the cycling began as a member of the " Dungun Cycling School ". Actually Awang wanted to study medicine but decided to first for the power cycling.

In the " Commonwealth Youth Championships " in 2004 in Bendigo Awang was third in the junior class in the 1000 -m time trial. In 2006, he won the Junior Sprints at the Asian Games. In 2008 he was twice Asian champion in the sprint and keirin.

After the overall victory in the keirin at the Track Cycling World Cup 2008/2009 Azizulhasni Awang launched at the UCI Track World Championships 2009 in Pruszków and was vice-champion in the sprint. He was the first Malaysian track rider to win a World Championship medal. In October 2009 he won the star-studded three-day train sports event " Gran Caracol de Pista " in the Colombian Medellin. In the Track World Championships 2010 in Ballerup Awang was vice-champion in the Keirin. In the same year he won at the Commonwealth Games bronze medal in the team sprint and at the Asian Games 2010 gold medal in the Keirin. In the season 2010/2011 he decided the overall standings in the Keirin Track Cycling World Cup in itself.

2008 Azizulhasni Awang took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing. He carried the flag of the Malaysian team. In the Keirin, he reached the eighth place.

Azizulhasni Awang is 1,70 m tall and petite built; therefore he received from his teammates nicknamed "The Pocket Rocketman ". He starts team for the Malaysian YSD Track.
