Badminton at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's singles

The individual competition of the men in badminton at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held at Wembley Arena from July 28 to August 5, 2012. 40 athletes took part.

There were 16 players set, which were distributed among the 16 groups. The groups were 2012 randomly assigned two or three players on July 23. In the groups, everyone plays against everyone, the group winners qualified for the next round, which was played in the knockout system, in which the winner reached the next round. The losers of the semi-finals then played from the bronze medal.

Lin Dan of China, becoming the first badminton player to repeat his Olympic victory. Already in 2008, Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei stood (Malaysia) play in the final. Dan won the final with 21:12 and 21:8. The fourth prize, Lee Hyun- il from South Korea, in 2008 also failed in the match for the bronze medal. At the time he lost with 16:21, 21:12 and 14:21 against the Chinese Chen Jin.
