Bardolino DOC

Bardolino is a red wine, named after the town in the southeast of Lake Garda. The production area includes the villages of Bardolino, Lazise, ​​Affi, Garda, Torri del Benaco, Peschiera del Garda and Costermano in whole or in part. Wines that have been grown in the central area between the towns of Bardolino, Lazise and Affi, vinified and bottled allowed to use the title Bardolino classico.

Bardolino is mainly from the Corvina Veronese ( 35-65 % share), and Rondinella (10-40 % fraction) prepared with the addition of a maximum of 20 % total share of varieties Molinara, Rossignola, Corvinone Veronese, Barbera, Sangiovese, Marzemino, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon is permitted. Bardolino is thus similar to the Valpolicella.

It produces the levels of quality DOC and DOCG, the demands on alcohol content (minimum 11%), yield per hectare ( maximum of 9 t / ha) and vinification are sharper in the DOCG. The Bardolino Superiore DOCG is called.

Most of Bardolino is a light, easy to drink red wine with a slightly bitter aftertaste. There is a rosé version, the Bardolino chiaretto, the usually even easier fails. All Bardolino should be drunk young.
