Bat Out of Hell (English for " bat out of hell ") is a 1977 published music album of the American rock singer Meat Loaf. All songs on the album were composed and written by Jim Steinman.

In 2001, the album was released, along with three bonus tracks. The first bonus track is Bolero by Maurice Ravel ( 3:54 ), and the second is a live version of Bat Out Of Hell ( 11:10 ), the third to the song Dead Ringer for Love ( 4:21 ) which also comes from the pen of Jim Steinman.

Background

Musically, the album of Steinman's bombastic style is characterized. Some titles, such as Bat Out of Hell himself, taken from his previously written musical Neverland.

Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman initially had difficulty finding a producer and a label. After a long search they finally met with the guitarist and producer Todd Rundgren as well as on the label Cleveland International Records. The album was not available for immediate success; it sold more slowly, but then with about 43 million copies as one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Even today, some 200,000 copies are sold each year.

The influential Rolling Stone Magazine leads Bat Out of Hell on its list of the 500 best albums of all time at number 343, the viewers of the British television program Top Gear chose the song Bat Out of Hell # 3 on the Top Gear 's Top 5 Ultimate Driving Songs.

In 1993, the successor to Bat out of Hell II appeared: Back Into Hell with the hit I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Will not Do That ). The Monster Is Loose: In October 2006, the third part, Bat out of Hell III appeared. Contrary to the first two parts is not involved in Bat Out of Hell III Jim Steinman in the project, seven of its songs were however gecovert or taken from musicals. The production has instead taken Desmond Child.

Over time, a number of re-releases of the album have been released, mainly on compact disc, but also Super Audio Compact Disc This is partly to remastered editions, partly to specific embodiments within the scope of certain series such as within the CD- series Sony Master Sound - Collector's Edition as a remastered recordings ( Sony Super bit Mapping [ SBM ] ) in the gold look or as a black CD in retro gramophone look from the series MIRROR EDITION - the Vinyl Classic, in which the label side has a vinyl grooves optics.
