Bátorove Kosihy

Bátorove Kosihy (Slovak 1948-1991 " Vojnice " - 1927-1948 " Bátorove Kesy " - until 1927 only " Kesy "; Hungarian Bátorkeszi - older even Bátorkesz ) is a municipality in Okres Komárno within the Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia with 3427 inhabitants ( December 31, 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located in the Danube lowland, more precisely in the Danube hills at the creek Vojnický creek, which is a right tributary of the Danube. The center is located at the altitude of 123 m nm, notable elevations of chrbát (271 m nm ) northwest and the Drieňová hora (226 m nm). The town is located 26 km east of Komárno and 26 kilometers west of Štúrovo.

Bátorove Kosihy divided into two parts of communes: Vojnice and Mikulášov Sad.

History

The first recorded settlement dates back to the Neolithic period. Furthermore, we also found Avar, Slavic and altmagyarische graves in the municipality. The town was first mentioned in 1156 as Villa Kesceu as an episcopal possession in writing. In 1311 the town was burned down by the followers of the oligarchs Matthew Csák. Over the centuries it was owned by the families Báthory ( the namesake of the municipality ) and Palffy. 1536 the place became a market town. 1830 here the first sugar factory was established on the territory of Slovakia.

Until 1918, the place was in the county Gran within the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia. 1938-1945 he was on the basis of the First Vienna Award again in Hungary.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Bátorove Kosihy 3,415 inhabitants, of whom 2,671 Magyars, 614 Slovaks, 39 Roma, 13 Czechs and one Bulgarian, German, Moravians and poles; 6 inhabitants were of a different ethnicity. 68 inhabitants did not respond. 2,136 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, 754 inhabitants to the Reformed Church, 47 inhabitants to the Evangelical Church AB, Jehovah 's Witnesses 23 inhabitants, eight residents of the Greek Catholic Church, seven residents of United Methodist and a resident of the Orthodox Church; five inhabitants was other denomination. 272 inhabitants were non-denominational and 159 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
