State Railway

The vehicles of the genus Bavarian BV were Tender locomotives of the Royal Bavarian State Railways.

It was the first of the Bavarian State Railway in a larger number of units ( 101 units) purchased Lokomotiv genus. The lot of 14 specimens corresponded largely still the A series V. The second, 15 pieces strong, series had a boiler of the type Crampton. The first two project units were not provided with a steam dome, the one retrofitted later, however. The third production run, however, was equipped with a steam dome on the rear part of the boiler, the fourth and last building lot with a front lying steam dome. The engine was coupled with a Tender senders of type 3 T 6.5 or 3 T 7

A copy of the series - the Nordgau, formerly known as Bavarian State Railways " 125 " on the road - is now owned by the Transport Museum in Nuremberg. It is the oldest preserved locomotive in Germany. The Nordgau was built in 1853 by Maffei and until 1907 was in operation. In 1925 they cut in main workshop Munich lengthwise on to make the operation of a steam locomotive visible.
