The river cruise ships in the Baykal - class (Russian Байкал, German transcription: Baikal ), which as a project 646 or BIFA Type B ( inland passenger vessel type B) was known, river and channel common inland passenger motor ships Intermediate Design. The class is named after the first ship of the class, which bore the name of Lake Baikal in eastern Siberia.

History

The river cruise ship series was produced from 1953 to 1956. The VEB Warnow Werft Warnemünde in the GDR built the ships of the joint text ( ZTKB KB and the GDR on April 3, 1952). The naming was limited with few exceptions, Soviet lakes and great writers. Used were the ships through Soviet lines such as JRP, LORP, TMMP, SSRP, SDP ( ГП Советское Дунайское пароходство ММФ СССР ), KRP and IRP on Soviet rivers and lakes, on the Baltic to line Leningrad - Vyborg, on the White Sea, on the Black Sea, as well as by the Polish company POLSTEAM Zegluga Szczecinska SP zoo on the Baltic Sea Szczecin. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the ships came into the hands of Russian and foreign private companies.

Technology

The individual vessels vary, depending on the variant, with smaller differences in the size of the ship, the equipment with different engine types and other features, with whom they were matched to the respective application. The ships were later completely modernized and rebuilt for new relationships, with the number of passenger seats was reduced considerably. The ships have a diesel drive with two reversible four-stroke main engines 6NVD48 without turbochargers.

Equipment

The ships were in the construction of single and double rooms as well as 4 -, 6 - and 8- bed cabins, all provided with washing facilities. Above and beyond are two restaurants and two community rooms. The multi-bed cabins have been modernized later, which led to a reduction in passenger capacity and increased travel comfort.
