Bayswater (Victoria)

Bayswater is a suburb of the Australian city of Melbourne. It is located about 26 km east of downtown.

History

The first post office in the area was opened in 1882 under the name Scoresby North. 1889 a railway connection to Melbourne was built. In the same year the post office was renamed in Bayswater.

In the late 1940s, German immigrants of the Temple Society in Bayswater and neighboring Boronia settled. 1951 bought the company 100 acres ( about 40 hectares) of land, where he built a meetinghouse and a school. Even today operates the Temple Society in Bayswater a nursing home and several settlements.
