History

Creation and debut album Dear G -d

Being as an Ocean was founded in Alpine in the U.S. state of California by vocalist Joel Quartuccio, the two guitarists Tyler Ross and Jacob Prest, and the bassist and drummer Ralph Sica Shad Hamawé 2011. Quartuccio, Hamawé, Tyler Ross and Ralph Sica played 2005-2011 in the now defunct Unblack metal band Vanguard, which brought out a total of three albums.

The group stands in invogue Records and released their debut album, Dear Gd, that was taken by Brian Hood in San Diego, on 23 October 2012. It debuted at # 27 in the Heatseeker charts of the U.S. music magazine Billboard.

In March 2013, the group toured for the first time in Europe. Together with Napoleon played Being as an Ocean in Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France, Belgium and Switzerland. In August, the band embarked on its first tour in Australia. As the opening act Sierra occurred. In September, followed by a second concert tour of the European continent. As opening acts played The Elijah and Capsize. The majority of the tour took place in Germany and the United Kingdom. Other performances during the tour were in Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands. In October and November 2013, the group was next to Expire and For the Fallen Dreams opening act for Senses Fail on their U.S. concert tour. Left Shad Hamawé and Jacob Prest yet in 2013 for unknown reasons the group. The other musicians studied in several open auditions for a replacement before Connor Denis - was admitted as a new drummer in the band - formerly active in Sleep Patterns. As a new rhythm guitarist Michael McGouch was added to the group. He previously played in the band The Elijah.

Second album: How We Both Wondrously Perish

In February and March 2014 Being as toured again at Ocean through Europe and played songs from their new album, which is scheduled for 2014. The band was featured alongside Hundredth, Counterparts and Polar. The performances took place in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Poland, France and Italy. Directly in front of this concert tour the band as support for August Burns Red in the UK was seen.

On February 25, 2014, the Group announced that the new album How We Both Wondrously Perish is, and is expected to be published on 6 May 2014.

Musical influences and band name

The band's music is influenced by groups like Mewithoutyou, Oceana, As Cities Burn, Underoath, Sigur Rós and Balance and Composure.

The musicians were inspired by a saying of Gandhi for their band name. This saying was:

"You must not loose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. "
