Benalla

Benalla is a city in the Australian state of Victoria and is located about 190 km north-east of Melbourne on the highway and the railway line between Melbourne and Sydney. It is the center of the Local Government Area Benalla Rural City.

Benalla is an agricultural town of about 9,000 inhabitants, was established in the 40s of the 19th century. First it was called after the river on which it is located, Broken River.

Benalla is also called the "Rose City" and is known for its public gardens. It also has a small airport and is a center of gliding sports and hot air balloon driver.

In the professional cyclist Baden Cooke Benalla was born.
