Bennett Valley AVA

Bennett Valley AVA ( American Viticultural Area or Bennett Valley, recognized since 2003) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California and is part of the regional North Coast AVA and Sonoma Valley AVA. The area partially overlapped with the regions Sonoma Coast AVA and Sonoma Mountain AVA.

The wine region is semi-circular bounded on the south, east and west by the Sonoma Mountains. In the north of the area, the city of Santa Rosa is located. About the lying between the Sonoma Mountains and Taylor Mountain Crane Canyon flows from a southwesterly direction a coming from the Pacific Ocean cooling wind, thus ensuring a temperate microclimate for Californian experience.

History

The region was granted on 23 December 2003 by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau of the status of an American Viticultural Area. The driving force was the Matanzas Creek Winery Winery.

Viniculture

Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Grenache, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah are the most common varieties of the wine region.
