Bernardito Auza

Bernardito Cleopas Auza ( born June 10, 1959 in Talibon, Bohol, Philippines) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican Diplomat.

Life

Bernardito Cleopas Auza studied at the Seminary in Tagbilaran and received on 29 June 1985, the ordination by Daniel Francis Walsh, Auxiliary Bishop in the Diocese of Santa Rosa in California, USA. At the University of Santo Tomas, he finished his theological training and entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He was in the representations in Madagascar and the southern Indian Ocean ( 1990-93 ), Bulgaria ( 1993-96 ), Albania ( 1997-98 ), Vatican Secretariat of State in the Department for relations with other states ( " State Department " ) (1999 -2006 ) and in the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations (2006-2008) worked.

On 8 May 2008, he was named Pope Benedict XVI. Titular Archbishop of Suacia Apostolic Nuncio to Haiti. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on 3 July of the same year; Co-consecrators were Ivan Cardinal Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Jean -Louis Cardinal Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.

He is the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Port-au -Prince Archbishop Joseph Serge Miot of which died in the massive earthquake in Haiti in 2010.

Auza speaks Tagalog, Italian, English, Spanish and French.
