Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince
The Archdiocese of Port-au -Prince (Latin: Portus Archidioecesis Principis ) is a location in Haiti Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Port-au -Prince.
History
The Archdiocese of Port-au -Prince on October 3, 1861 by Pope Pius IX. built out of territory of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo. On February 25, 1988, the Archdiocese of Port-au -Prince were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Jacmel.
On 12 January 2010, the Archdiocese of Port-au -Prince Cathedral was destroyed by an earthquake. The Archbishop of Port-au -Prince, Joseph Serge Miot, died in the earthquake.
